About AOA
Insuring Beyond · Inaugural Cohort
An implementation platform that bridges the gap between insurance balance-sheet strategy and live investment execution.
Insuring Beyond (IB)
Insuring Beyond operates as an insurer-aligned implementation platform that translates board investment priorities into governed, capital-efficient mandates and transaction structures. It runs the full sequence from asset-liability framing and capital assessment through due diligence, institutional governance, financial close and post-allocation stewardship.
Participating institutions commit one active investment mandate to the platform. Over two focused weeks, executive leadership tests the mandate against the liability profile, solvency capital treatment and liquidity needs, then subjects it to market testing, structuring and due diligence. Delegation leaders leave with a board-ready investment pack.
Working with global insurers, reinsurers, asset managers, actuaries and advisors, IB establishes investment pathways, screens and curates high-conviction opportunities, oversees structuring and diligence, and convenes co-investors to drive financial close with ongoing fiduciary oversight.
Programme themes
Matching assets to life, annuity and general insurance liabilities, including duration, currency and inflation.
How risk-based capital regimes treat each asset class, and how to earn a return on the capital it consumes.
Long-dated, local-currency real-economy assets suited to insurance balance sheets.
Building global exposure within regulatory limits, from listed markets to fund structures.
How reinsurance, guarantees and blended finance change the capital and risk profile of an investment.
Investment policy, board oversight and constructive engagement with the regulator.
Strategic mandate execution pipeline
Stages 01 to 08 are completed during the executive sessions, directly yielding committee-ready deliverables. Stages 09 and 10 govern legal close and long-term portfolio monitoring.
Executive framing of the board's investment targets, risk appetite and solvency objectives.
Mapping the liability profile, liquidity needs and capital budget that every investment must respect.
Translating priorities into mandate specifications: asset classes, ticket sizes, return targets, capital limits and governance parameters.
Testing opportunities against the mandate, liability fit and capital charge to sort them into incubation, structuring or diligence tracks.
Screening asset managers and direct co-investment opportunities to build a validated pipeline.
Designing terms, vehicles, governance rights and fee structures that meet insurance regulatory and capital requirements.
Legal, financial, actuarial and operational due diligence overseen by independent advisors.
Finalising investment, risk and board committee documentation for formal authorisation.
Legal execution, final documentation, capital deployment and transactional close.
Post-allocation monitoring, capital and liquidity reporting, board reporting and long-term stewardship.
Institutional provisions
A technical briefing with your executive, actuarial and investment teams to calibrate priorities, liability constraints and capital parameters before the sessions.
Working sessions at leading venues and inside host institutions, expert-facilitated roundtables, strategic briefings, delegation transport between venues, working meals and complete board packs.
Institutions may tailor executive attendance across workstreams, provided designated senior representation is present for the core checkpoints.
Subject to confirmation, optional briefings with insurance regulators, reinsurers and policymakers.
Systems-level cumulative effect
Stronger, more diversified insurance balance sheets. Better returns on capital. Policyholders protected — and more long-term capital working in African economies.
Long-dated insurance capital directed into infrastructure and real-economy sectors that sustain jobs and growth.
More demand for long-dated local-currency bonds and real assets — improving matching for long-duration liabilities.
Stronger, better-capitalised insurers able to extend cover to more households and businesses.

The procurement and governance papers your institution may need.
Dates, location, visas and logistics for the inaugural cohort.
The cohort is deliberately senior and deliberately small — designed for executives who hold or directly inform investment authority.
Your board approves a total cost, not a programme fee — so we set out the full position openly.
